School Lunches
There will be no online order system this school year. Elementary students will order in homeroom as they have in the past. In addition to lunch this year, we will be offering a district wide breakfast to all students. More information will be emailed to families from the HPS Food Service manager. The most exciting news for this school year is that ALL SCHOOL MEALS ARE FREE!! Students can get a breakfast and a lunch at no charge throughout the entire United States. Students will only need money in their www.schoolcafe.com accounts for extras, such as bonus meals, an extra milk, or a milk to go with their lunch from home. School Cafe accounts can be managed using the student's pin number. We look forward to seeing all our students back in school.
If your child has special dietary needs and would like to participate in the school meals program, please don’t hesitate to contact the HPS Food Service. Please note that with special dietary concerns, ample notice of what your child will needs must be given. Also, all kitchens are peanut and nut free. All contact info for your school's manager and the food allergy procedures can be found online at HPS Food Service.
At this time, many families may be struggling financially possibly due to the pandemic. Although there is no charge for school meals for the 2021-2022 school year, applications are still being accepted online via schoolcafe.com. There is a PDF version of the application on the menu site, and can be to mailed to a students home or sent home with your child. Once you are approved for benefits, you are set for the whole school year. You can stop benefits anytime. In addition, families are also encouraged to apply for SNAP benefits. SNAP provides monthly cash benefits on an EBT card to purchase groceries for eligible families. To apply for SNAP, visit DTA Connect at https://dtaconnect.eohhs.mass.gov/ or call the Project Bread Food Source Hotline at 1-800-645-8333. Families approved for SNAP are directly eligible to receive free meals at school. The Hingham Food Pantry also is a good resource to help families.

All school Meetings
All School Meetings are a wonderful opportunity for students to learn first-hand about presenting in front of a large group and the importance of being a respectful audience. Throughout the year, students participate in various ways – including music, song and poem individual and group/class presentations as well as special holiday programming as well as hear regularly from school administrators and teachers. Parents are welcome to attend the Meetings as well as bring younger siblings or relatives. Chairs and standing room is available on the entrance side of the school cafeteria – please note that the first row is reserved for teachers. The Meetings typically run a half hour to 45 minutes and begin with the Pledge of Allegiance and singing of My Country Tis of Thee.
birthdays at PRS
Students and Teachers celebrate their birthdays at PRS during the All-School Meeting closest to their birthday where they are invited to go on stage and say their name and birthday into the microphone. All attendees sing Happy Birthday and the students receive a birthday pencil. Parents can check with their teacher regarding their students’ exact date for their birthday recognition. Summer birthdays are celebrated during June All School Meetings in groups.
PRS Online
Visit both the PRS https://hinghamschools.com/plymouth-river-elementary-school/ and the PRS PTO website http://prspto.weebly.com/ for easily accessible information about the school year.
PRS Holidays & Events
Celebrations and events are typically planned by class, grade or school around holidays including Halloween, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Memorial Day that offer opportunities for family support or participation. Each June, there are several opportunities for parents to share directly in student learnings during school hours including Art and Music Shares as well as Year-end celebrations and field trips.
PRS Social Media
There are PRS Facebook and Instagram pages (@plymouthriverschool) as well as Facebook pages for each of the PRS class years – all are a great way to stay updated as well as informally connect with other PRS families.
PRS Student Directory
Watch for an email in September to add your students name to the online PRS Directory that is produced by the PTO each Fall.
